About Us - Cadence Law Partners

About Us

Cadence Law Partners (CadenceLP) is a boutique law firm dedicated to providing a wide range of legal services that we tailor to our client's present issues and future goals. Our specialty is helping families navigate the complexities of education law. Whether in a school discipline crisis or in a dispute involving your child's special education or school accommodation needs – CadenceLP can stand with you.

We differentiate ourselves from other law firms by offering ongoing representation and advocacy in more complex matters. If your education legal issue is compounded by child welfare, juvenile delinquency or acute/residential mental health concerns, CadenceLP offers related legal services as well.

To ensure further comprehensive legal support for our clients and their families CadenceLP also offers family and estate planning services. For example, for more independent young adults, we can establish supported decision maker agreements. In other circumstances we assist with current and contingent guardianship plans, and adoptions.

CadenceLP's broad spectrum of life and legacy planning services also includes thorough guidance through creating and maintaining updated powers of attorney, advance directives, wills and trusts, and other provisions.

Meet the Team

Gillian S. Barjon

Gillian S. Barjon

Managing Partner, Owner

Gillian is the Owner and Managing Partner of Cadence Law Partners, LLC founded in 2020. At the time she envisioned helping friends and family and someday her community, avoid the sobering prospect of a loved one dying suddenly without an estate plan, as had recently occurred with her mother. It was also a vision to provide education and access to people from varied walks of life who otherwise would not have the legal tools to pursue financial security and a legacy for future generations.

Gillian's calling has always been to advocate for the rights and wellbeing of children and families. She has almost a decade and a half of legal experience fighting for them in the child welfare system. Over the years, she honed her civil litigation skills through hundreds of evidentiary hearings, trials, mediations, and court appearances on behalf of children in foster care. She fought for her clients' permanency goals, such as guardianship or independent living, and helped them understand the laws and formal processes involved. She also showed up for her clients in their homes, in mental health hospitals, in school meetings, in delinquency proceedings, and anywhere else they needed her. Recently, her primary practice has been advocating for children on education matters, including non-emergency special education meetings, as well as crises like expulsion hearings, and manifestation determination reviews. She also has experience lodging formal disputes through due process and state complaints. Gillian earned her BA in psychology from Hampton University in 2008 and her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 2011. She is licensed to practice in Nevada.

The firm's latest initiatives demonstrate a deep dedication to empowering local communities by providing vital legal knowledge and fostering connections between families, educators, and advocates.
